Dear Friend

A poem I wrote long ago.

Dear friend, the pain right now
Is too much to bear.
Dear friend, the waves are
Crashing in harder, faster.
Dear friend, I’m not sure
How much longer I can hold on.
Dear friend, right now I
Need an outlet to go to.
Dear friend, I need a light
To shine at the end of the tunnel.
Dear friend, what I need is
Someone I can talk to.
Dear friend, someone who is
Willing to just sit and listen.
Dear friend, someone who actually
Cares with no judgement.
Dear friend, someone who won’t
Abandon ship in an instant.
And that, my dear friend, is
The one, the only, You.
